Kenway-Frye Wedding #1

A - Bachelor/Giant Engagement Party
Because it’s Jacob and Edward they are going to party all week leading up to the big day and probably the days after if you let them. Connor is throwing the boys a celebration on the Aquila, which is also where the ceremony is going to take place. Two birds with one stone really, the boys can pass out drunk here and get up to get ready in the morning for the big day! There will be drinking and some silly games involving balloons and gifts if you would like to give the happy couple anything (But it's not required! the boys have said no gifts, but feel free to ignore that). Possibly strippers… maybe exotic dancers… WHO KNOWS! It’s bound to be a wild night(s) leading up the wedding! Connor offers for anyone to stay at the Manor if need be.
B- Before the wedding. Helping with preparations or just mingling before the ceremony to chat at people you haven’t seen in a while, or maybe you’re meeting for the first time? Or maybe you’re seeing the boys are dressed and ready and not freaking out.C- During the wedding.
It’s a short and sweet ceremony with Connor officiating the marriage on a decked out Aquila. The boys kept to a small group, their closest friends and relatives, mostly the Assassins. The boys are dressed to the nines and happy as can be, delivering vows and exchanging rings (Which Edward surprises Jacob with just before the Ceremony is set to begin). Edward will explain to those present that the rings are just till they can get their tattoos done. They kiss, with Jacob dipping Edward, and it’s maybe a little more passionate and fiery than would be appropriate in front of an audience but Edward does his best to keep it sort of short, for their friends'/family's sake… It ends, with Jacob and Edward’s hands linked and the pair of them declaring “TO THE PUB!”
D- Wedding reception!!! This party WILL go all night long. ALL are welcome and invited to join in on the festivities and Connor opens the Homestead up to the Kenways, Fryes and various assorted Assassins (and Haytham) and their guests. Open bar. Plenty of food and CAKE. Maybe more silly games, and definitely dancing and all around having tons of fun. Everyone is encouraged to have a drink and let loose in honor of Jacob and Edward.E- Morning after? Week after? Check out the married couples tattoos! (Jacob with the Feather, Edward with the Anchor)
Misc/Wildcard- Open for any situations not mentioned here. Consider this a free for all open log to mingle and do as you like!

B. Helping the old man get ready
Ever since he had agreed to perform his grandfather's wedding ceremony, he had poured countless hours into memorizing the words perfectly, until he could recite them flawlessly within his own mind. Still, with all of his practice, he feared that the words might be jumbled as he tried to speak, or that he would slip mindlessly into his native tongue and no one would understand a word he was trying to say.
Dressed in his formal captain's attire, seeing it as the most fitting thing he owned for the current occasion, he moved past the members of his crew who were busily at work trying to ensure the ship was in top condition and fully decked out before the ceremony was set to begin. Descending the steps to the captains quarters, he knocked once, quietly, not bothering to wait for an actual answer before slipping inside.
Cradled gently in his gloved hands was a small, black box containing his intended present for his grandfather. Which was another source of anxiety altogether, but he was trying not to think about it. He already knew that Edward would appreciate whatever he chose to give him, but this was incredibly thought out and special.
"I have come to see if you needed any help." There's a soft smile playing over his features as he speaks, moving closer to where his grandfather stands. He's already certain and prepared that there is going to be hugging, and so he's already braced himself for it.
who're you calling old?
He's only pulled from it when Connor opens the door and joins him, looking up from his fretting to the taller young man that was his grandson. He smiles softly, glad for the distraction from his own thoughts.
"I--I... maybe? Do I look alright? I can't tell if i've got this all crooked or if it's my eyes playing tricks on me." He's sober, despite the fact he'd rather have drank at least half a bottle by now to calm his nerves and make everything go smoothly. It's not cold feet or any kind of uncertainty for marrying Jacob, he just wants everything to go well. They may not be the types to care about what's proper or perfect, far from it themselves, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't like their small gathering and ceremony to go off without a hitch.
"What's that there?" nodding to the gift box. He's almost too beside himself to even think of hugging Connor till his ribs break. He'll do that later... In the mean time he's adjusting his cuffs and what few bits of jewelry he's wearing.
You (Great) Grandpapa
"You look perfect, Grandfather. I am certain Jacob will think so as well." Standing back as he spoke, offering one of those incredibly rare soft smiles as his eyes worked down over the outfit, making sure everything truly was as perfect as he said. "Everything will be alright. I have seen to it myself."
Everything would be perfect, would run smoother than fresh butter, he had ensured it. There was no one who did not know or understand how important this day truly was, and the Aquilla herself reflected it, well cleaned and simply decorated. The entire homestead had been opened up, and its residents were already busy and hard at work ensuring the resulting party would be a joyous one, full of food and laughter.
"It is a gift." A sense of hesitation steals over him and he almost can't bring himself to retrieve the box and give it as intended. Was this the appropriate moment? But he could think of no better one, and it was a gift that he knew his grandfather would be eager for, knew how much he loved his family and seeing them happy.
"For you. From me and from Evie." Lifting it and handing it over caused his heart to skip a beat and flutter within his chest. A beautiful black box lined with silk, carefully guarding the treasure that lay inside - an antique naval compass, dutifully restored back to it's former glory, fully operational and polished until the once dull brass practically shown. Beneath lay a small card, the type that was generally found on top of gifts such as this, oddly enough.
no subject
"Oh, I have no doubt you've got everything under control, I'm more worried about myself." He sighs and it's like a weight is lifted from his shoulders with just having Connor there. He's certainly grateful for everything Connor has done for him, and how much his Grandson pus up with him.
"You know you didn't have to... you've already done enough." He'll take the box as if it is the most precious thing in the world and run his fingers over the lid and the silver elephant on the front before opening it. His eyes light up at the compass and he'll set the box on his map table to pull it free and have a closer look, opening the front to test it out, turning and watching the needle keep to true north.
"Thank you, It's beautiful." It's about then he notices the small white card that was hidden beneath and he closes the compass to pocket it. He plucks it out flipping it in his fingers to read the clean lettering and it almost takes a second read for the reality to sort of sink in through the thoughts already racing in his head until all there is is this. His other gift. And for a moment he swears his heart stops in his chest.
"You--" Maybe it's all the excitement already, just everything going on but he almost feels dizzy with the news. Not in a bad way but boy is he a little overwhelmed. With joy, of course. He just needs a minute to catch his breath and try to put his brain back together enough to command some proper words off his tongue. He's forgotten out to breathe but there's finally a gasp.
"I'm gonna be a great-grandfather?" He's looking up at Connor as if in disbelief, but it's that wide-eyed almost childish wonderment like seeing a clear night sky lit up with every star for the first time.
"Sink me..." he says, breathlessly. "I'M GONNA BE A GREAT GRANDFATHER!!!"
They'll be lucky if the crewmen outside didn't hear that. Also Connor, brace yourself for impact he's going to get the biggest, most rib crushing hug in his life. Edward is even going to somehow lift the bigger man off his feet a little with it as he squeezes him tight.
"HAHA! You sly dog, screw being sober we need to celebrate this with a drink." He lets the other go to go riffling through his best stock then pauses and holds up his finger. "Just the one."
no subject
"I am pleased you like it." Finding it had been a stroke of luck, a chance glance at a storefront while running around the streets of New York. Once the guards who were chasing after him had been lost, he had carefully returned and inquired about it, purchasing it on the spot, despite it being in desperate need of cleaning and repair.
And then his heart stops completely as Edward finally notices the small card and plucks it from it's resting place, reading over it once, twice, before looking up at him with the biggest, widest eyes he had ever seen, filled with a sort of wonderment and disbelief that could only be described as wonderment. All that he can manage to offer in return is a small nod in confirmation as the question is spoken before finally, the sound of yelling erupts across the room and it's impossible to deny the pure joy that seems to be positively radiating from his grandfather.
Connor allows the hug, having long since been prepared for it, although his ribs are a little worse for wear after the exchange. But it's impossible to care about the ache that's left behind, to care about anything other than the happiness he feels.
"Just one." While it would likely be a better idea to say no, to refuse and leave his grandfather sober, Connor had, in truth, been looking forward to telling his grandfather the news of the coming child the most. Edward loved family and children, and knowing he had never lived to see his grandchild much less any of the subsequent great grandchildren only made it all the better.
"I did not know I was able to love someone so much who I have not even met."
no subject
Fatherhood was a gift. The moment he knew about Jenny he had to find her, had to meet her, had to at least get a chance at loving her like he should've done from the very beginning. He still believes in his heart if he'd known about her, he'd have fought to stay with Caroline rather than leave them. Her father and his dangerous friends had threatened his family to chase him off in hopes he would die at sea. But if he'd known.... he would've done anything to find another way. At least, that's what he tells himself. And though the time he was taken from he never knew his son, Haytham, somehow, despite everything he still loved a man--his son-- he never met and somehow knew. He just knew. Part of it was the glitched memories of his future, sure, but there was something deeper to it. Like when he met Connor for the first time. Now maybe his grandson can understand how Edward can love them all with very little thought as to why or how. He just does.
"It'll only be a matter of time till you get to meet the little nipper and it'll only make that love grow ten-fold." He raises his glass.
"To family. New, old or unconventional as they may be."
B
And Haytham, but there's nothing he can do about that.
He sucks in another breath, and presses his back against one of the huge ancient trees. He can do this. He wants to do it. He's just sure he'll do something stupid like forget his own name, say all the wrong things, fall flat on his face.
Re: B
Besides, her maternal instincts are frankly in overdrive at the moment.
"Is there anything I can do?" she asks, stopping a few feet away from him - far enough to give him space if that's what he wants, but close enough for comfort if that's what he needs.
no subject
He offers her a smile, tugging at the cuffs of his shirt distractedly. He can do this. He just wishes he understood why he felt so nervous. He likes being the center if attention.
"Morning. Should you be sitting down?" He can't manage something witty right now, all he can do is distract himself by being concerned with Evie.
no subject
"Not yet," she answers easily "and it's not like I can miss anything when you're here." she adds, lightly teasing.
She regards him thoughtfully for a moment, trying to decide how best to handle his obvious nervousness. It's uncharacteristic, she's not even sure she can remember a time she's seen him even half as nervous, but it's also completely understandable - he's never done anything like this before, it's a big step.
"Are you ready?"
no subject
The question makes him smile again, a little more like the young man he is rather than the thug he so often proves himself to be.
"I think so." He replies, glancing around the tree back at the others again. There's no uncertainty in him about Edward, no sudden cold feet on that front, but the whole concept is a little strange. Jacob Frye, getting married. No one would believe it. Least of all anyone who knew him.
no subject
Evie can guess it's probably not a cold feet sort of thing, Jacob knows his own mind well enough that she doubted he would have let something like this get this far if he wasn't sure about it, and Evie knows his mind well enough to understand what he's going through, the unfamiliarity of it all. She understands because she's experiencing it herself.
"It's a lot, isn't it?" she asks lightly "Never would have thought it would go this way..."
no subject
Now the moment seems too soon, and there are so many things that he's meant to say or do or arrange. Nothing important, nothing like a deathbed confession, but things that need to be said.
He straightens up and lets some of the nerves fade away. "Did I tell you I'm... really pleased you're here? I mean it, Evie. Thank you for everything. For supporting us."
After all, Edward's family was tricky, at the best of times. But it's just the twins now. And Junior, he supposes.
no subject
"Jacob..." she can't help but smile fondly "I wouldn't be anywhere else. You know all I want is for you to be happy."
And it was very obvious that Edward made him happy. He'd even managed to do the almost impossible and impress Evie, and she had very high standards for people who were around her brother.
"You deserve this." she adds, in case he hasn't realised it for himself.
no subject
Jacob's usual response to that would be something unrepeatable, but he's trying to behave, to be a little bit grown up. This is, after all, his wedding day. God, when he thinks about it, it really doesn't seem believable.
"And yes. I mean it's your job, as big sister. Making sure all my whims are satisfied all the time." He grins then, his usual big, bright, I-annoying-and-I-know-it-grin. "You're probably really glad I'll have a husband to take over."
no subject
"More like try and keep your whims in check," she shot back archly "But that's something I doubt your new husband is going to do for you, you're just as bad as each other." her expression is still fond though, Jacob and Edward were very well matched and she was glad they'd found each other.
"Mother would have loved to be here.." she adds softly. She doesn't know how their father would have felt, though she liked to think he too would have wanted them both to be happy as long as they were still Assassins, mother on the other hand was definitely more focused on the former.
no subject
But clearly Evie does like to think of them, and Jacob's not so spoiled any more than he'll upset her.
"If you like it, I'm sure she would."
no subject
Evie catches that slight falter and realises her misstep, mentally noting not to mention it again. Instead she steps forward, automatically reaching out to adjust the line of his suit, making him look presentable.
"I love it, but that's not what's important," she says fondly "I realise this is going to make you insufferable, but today is all about you, brother mine."
no subject
"It's only one day, after all. I get one day, don't I? Aside from Christmas and my birthday."
Which is also technically her birthday, but that's an unimportant detail.
no subject
"Our birthday," she corrected gently, but she sighs and nods, and despite knowing how much of a pain he's going to be, she's still smiling, because she really is genuinely happy for him.
"But yes, you get one day, you and Edward both, so enjoy it."
no subject
He leans in, and kisses her again, "Although come on, you get that and monther's day sooner or later. And I don't believe Connor's not the type to ask you..."
He trails off, waiting for her to tell him if Connor has already.
no subject
"Connor hasn't even hinted anything of the sort," she said, a little primly. She isn't sure how to feel about that, it feels as though it ought to be the next step but at the same time she doesn't want him to feel like he has to propose.
"But that's not important today. I'm so proud of you Jacob."
no subject
"Want me to punch him till he does?"
no subject
Evie sighs, she'd almost laugh if she didn't know it would offend Jacob, and honestly the protectiveness is sort of sweet. She shakes her head, resting a hand on Jacob's shoulder.
"Don't be ridiculous, Jacob. I don't want him to feel as though he has to. We'll get to that point eventually I'm sure."
no subject
"Now, I know I'm not supposed to see the bride before the wedding but..." He shrugs.
"Don't really see you as the blushing bride type anyway." He leans a shoulder against the tree and fiddles with something in his pocket.
"So... I was thinkin'... an’ you know how dangerous that is at times." A small laugh at himself, he's rambling, he's nervous too.
"We aren't getting the tattoos till after and a wedding ceremony ain't complete without rings so..." He pulls out a little black felt pouch and opens it to pour the rings out onto his palm. They're simple, but gorgeous and made of a dark metal.
“What do you think?”
no subject
Which means this is really happening.
His heart beats a little quicker as he shifts, to lean closer to Edward, matching his stance and letting the ancient tree do the work of keeping him upright.
"Sober thinking? That's the worst sort..." He teases, but doesn't want to stop Edward's train of thought. He's clearly has something on his mind, that much is clear, although it might just be wedding nerves making him jittery.
He frowns as Edward reaches into his pocket. And then there's the rings, beautiful and dark, the silver catching the light. He lets out a soft laugh, surprised and touched and his heart skips another beat. Any more of this and he might not actually get to say his vows.
"You sly old romantic, Edward Kenway." Jacob says, voice hardly more than a whisper, leaning closer to catch Edward's mouth in a kiss.
no subject
He'll watch Jacobs expression, how the little frown turns into a wide eyed wonder at the rings in his palm, then the smile that reaches Jacob's eyes and the light, happy little laugh. It's all he could've wanted, that little slice of surprised joy.
"What can I say, I'm a little old fashioned." He kisses Jacob happily then tips his head so their noses and foreheads are just resting against each other and they can just breathe each other in one last time before they have to part for the real thing.
"It'll be a promise. Just till we can etch our connection to each other into our skin so it will never be taken from us. Afterwords you can do what you like with the ring." He'll slowly tuck them away into the pouch and back into his pocket.
"Almost time."
no subject
It's not only that though, it's not only the thought of Connor turning around and saying that they're too drunk to agree to this. It's the fact that he wants to remember it, as best he can.
And he wants to remember this, the kiss, the few private moments, the closeness of it. This is their day but it's a day they have to be on show to everyone, on their best behaviour. That's hard work, especially for someone like Jacob.
"What if I decide I'm going to keep it on? It's a promise, like you said. I'm not going to start taking it off before you've even given it to me."
He catches Edward's lips again, briefly, trying to snatch some calm.
"I know. You better get out of here."
no subject
"It won't be long, then I'll be with you again, for the rest of our lives here." His grip slowly slips away, as if reluctant to go.
"I'd better finish getting ready..." But he'll go back in for one more quick kiss before finally turning to leave before he lingers any longer and misses the whole ceremony.
"Edward Kenway" A scolding voice echoes from the group as he passes by. "Must you always break the rules?"
"Wouldn't be me if I didn't." He calls back to Malik as he runs off to the Jackdaw to get dressed.
